FAQs about P400
What is P400 sandpaper used for?
Primer / paint: Smoothing primer surfacer and primer, preparing for the top coat. Typical for Car & paint, Metal, Plastic, Primer.
Is P400 coarse or fine?
P400 belongs to the fine range (P220 to P400): smoothing and preparing. The higher the number, the finer the grit.
Which grit comes after P400?
After P400 comes P500 or – from our range – P600. Never more than double the number per step – that way the finer grit removes the scratches of the coarser one.
Should P400 be used wet or dry?
Dry, with dust extraction – up to about P600 that is the standard today: faster, and no water in the metal or wood. Mesh discs and multi-hole patterns stop P400 from clogging.
Which grit comes before P400?
Before P400, sand with P320 (or finer). Jump straight to P400 from too coarse a grit and you won't get the scratches out.
